DIY Masks for Dry Skin Relief

Moisturise dry winter skin with these easy masks by Kanika Aggarwal.

The winter months are my favourite time of the year. Unfortunately, the weather they bring is not too kind on the skin. Cold winds, snow, indoor heat – all of these dry our skin and steal away its natural glow. This is especially true for facial skin since it stays uncovered and is at the mercy of harsh weather. Presented below are recipes for face masks that can be applied for dry skin relief in winter or any other time of the year. The best part about these masks is that they contain ingredients that you probably already have in your home! Go ahead and try out these refreshing face masks and get back your glowing skin, ready to greet the world once again.

Oatmeal Mask

Oatmeal is an ingredient that works really well for extremely dry skin. It is often used by those suffering from eczema. This mask also contains honey and yoghurt and together these ingredients will soothe and replenish your dry skin in no time!

• ¹⁄3 cup instant oatmeal
• ½ cup hot water
• 1 tbs honey
• 1-2 tsp plain, unsweetened yoghurt

Start by adding water to the oatmeal and stirring for a few minutes until it is fluffy. Then add in the yoghurt and the honey. You can keep the mixture clumpy or run it through a blender to make it into a smooth paste. Apply liberally on your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Finally, clean your skin with a washcloth or rinse with warm water.

Avocado and Honey Mask

Ingredients such as avocados and coconut oil help moisturise the skin and honey repairs dry skin with its healing properties. This mask works especially well for skin that is peeling or red due to extreme dryness.
