Sorry for keeping you waiting

Poetry: Be Kind to Yourself

By Nai’ma B Robert

If your children are asleep now,
Eyelashes trembling on flushed cheeks,
Take a moment
And breathe;
For you have made it another mile.
If you cracked today,
Forgive yourself.
For every day is like a stream
Slipping over stones unturned,
Full of tests and blessings and lessons to be learned  –
Be kind to yourself.
Know that tomorrow dawns
With all the promise of yesterday
And it always has –
Start anew.
Do you.
Smile and pray and breathe your way through.
