We have all watched make-up tutorials where the make-up ‘guru’ is piling on layers and layers of products such as foundation, concealer, eye shadow etc. But let’s face it, not all women like an overly made-up look. To avoid looking over-groomed and achieve a naturally flawless-looking face, follow the make-up tips below and always remember, ‘less is more!’
Prep your skin
The natural look starts with healthy-looking skin. This step includes washing your face with a gentle cleanser and lightly exfoliating your skin to get rid of any dead skin cells from the surface of your face. This step makes the blending of make-up easy and look more natural.
Use a tinted moisturiser
For a natural look, foundation is usually too greasy and ends up giving that cakey appearance. A great alternative is a tinted lotion which provides adequate moisture to your skin along with some coverage to even out your skin tone, without looking over-done.
Use a concealer only if needed
Not everyone needs to use a concealer. If you have visible blemishes or under-eye circles, then gently dab and apply some concealer on those specific areas. Pick a concealer shade that is half a shade lighter than your natural complexion to give a brightening effect.
Use a cream blush
Cream blushes look more natural than powder ones. They blend in easily and give a natural-looking flush of colour to your cheeks.
Apply eye shadow
Soft, neutral colours such as espresso, light gold and light browns will help shape up your eyes without making them look heavily drenched in make-up. Extend the colour all over your eyelid and stop right at the crease, blending out any harsh edges.
Lightly apply the eye-liner
It is very important not to draw harsh, dark lines with the eyeliner. For a natural look, gently define your eyes with a light application of the eyeliner. Also, instead of black, choose a brown eyeliner pencil for a more natural-looking appearance.
Lightly apply mascara to your lashes
Similar to the eyeliner, choose to go with a brown or brownish-black mascara, instead of a black one to enhance your eyelashes without making it look too harsh and spider-like.
Define your lips
It is preferred to choose a lip colour that matches your own lip shade closely. Also, opt for a lip tint that is both glossy and moisturising for a more natural look, rather than a dark, greasy lipstick.
Following these simple tips will help you achieve that naturally flawless ‘no make-up’ look, without looking over-groomed. Happy grooming!
