The manuals are available in any language and we have seen success in over 50 countries worldwide; Breastlight was designed in England and is manufactured in the UK.
Breastlight provides a chance for women to have an inner view of their breasts; it is designed to give the maximum light transmission through the breast tissue, though a small fraction of the light will pass through completely. When the light hits a blood vessel in your breast it is engrossed by hemoglobin, this makes the veins in your breasts appear as dark lines. Fluid filled cysts will not absorb any light; malignant lumps have an increased blood supply to feed them so any dense areas may indicate an abnormality. These areas could look like very dark spots or a shadowy area. It is possible that these are abnormalities in the breast if you see these you should go to your GP for advice. For effectiveness and accurate results it must be used in a dark room in front of a mirror to give a better view of the whole breast. The product works by shining a safe, powerful red light through the breast tissue.
The light passes through the breast tissue and reveals dark areas where blood is present. It is fairly normal to see a pattern of veins and other blood vessels as dark shadow lines in your breast. Around the nipple you may see a circle of small dots – these are part of your mammary glands these are also totally normal. If you do find there is a dark cluster, this could potential be an abnormality that requires a check up by a doctor. Over a number of months you will learn more about your breasts and how they look under the light. This internal view will become as familiar to you as the look and feel of your breasts on the outside.
How to use breastlight:
- Use a darkened room with a mirror that you can sit or stand in front of, the darker the room, the easier it is to use and see the required translucent
- Please allow a few minutes for your eyes adjust to the darkened room.
- Hold the light underneath one of your breasts and push firmly against it. Make sure there is good contact with your skin and avoid any light escaping from the sides. Looking down you will see part of your breast illuminated, the dark lines are veins and blood vessels in silhouettes. Use the top button to change the brightness level for larger or firmer breasts. Slowly move the device around to see other parts of your breast. Do this until you feel you have seen as much of your breast as possible. When you have finished looking at one breast you should repeat with the following steps with the other.
- Remember Breast tissue goes right around under the arms and high up on the chest toward your shoulders be sure to look here including the area just behind the nipple. Also if the light is too low you will not be able to see the veins in your breast. If it is too high you won’t be able to see the fine details.
Breastlight is designed to be easy to use and runs off a rechargeable battery. You may find that applying a water based lubricant will help the device glide on the skin. It is important to check out any suspicious signs for your peace of mind whether it is a lump, a change in the nipple or a dark shadow seen with Breastlight.
Remember that not all abnormalities are cancerous. In fact in about nine out of ten cases it will not be a cancer but a minor ailment that can easily be treated. Having it checked out by your doctor as soon as possible could save you needless worry. If the lump is cancerous then you will have the best possible chance of successful treatment.
